There's something almost uncomfortable about the instructions God gave Joshua at Jericho. No battle plan. No siege equipment. No clever military strategy. Just walk. In circles. For days. And don't say a word.
For the Israelites, this must have felt absurd. Jericho wasn't a small obstacle. It was a fortified city with thick walls and a reputation. The people inside weren't going to just hand it over. And yet God's instructions were essentially: trust the process, even when the process looks nothing like progress.
What makes this passage so striking is that the walking itself was the obedience. Nothing was visibly happening on days one through six. No cracks in the walls. No signs of surrender. From the outside, it probably looked like Israel had lost its mind. But they kept going. They followed instructions that didn't make immediate sense because they trusted the One who gave them.
You might be in a season that feels a lot like that. You're praying, you're showing up, you're doing the quiet faithful thing, and nothing looks different yet. The situation hasn't changed. The relationship is still hard. The answer hasn't come. And it's tempting to wonder if any of it matters.
It does. Faithful obedience in the unseen days is never wasted. God was working at Jericho long before the walls fell. He's working in your situation too, even when you can't see it. Keep walking.

Lord, it's hard to keep going when nothing seems to be changing. Give us the faith to trust that our obedience matters even when we can't see results. Help us stay steady in the quiet days, knowing that you are always at work. We trust your timing more than our own understanding. Amen.
