John 11:35
Jesus wept.
Two words. The shortest verse in the Bible. And somehow, one of the most important.
The context here matters enormously. Jesus was standing outside the tomb of Lazarus, his dear friend. He already knew what was about to happen. He knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead. He had the power to fix everything, and he knew he was about to use it. And yet, when he saw Mary weeping and the mourners gathered around her, something in him broke open. He wept anyway.

Lord, thank you for a Savior who weeps. Thank you that you don't stand at a distance from our pain, but you step right into it with us. Wherever grief is living in our hearts today, meet us there. Help us trust that sorrow and faith can coexist, and that you are close to us in every tender, broken moment. We don't have to rush. You are here. Amen.
