Stop Playing Spiritual Hide and Seek

Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. โ€” Galatians 6:7

Let's get uncomfortable for a minute. I've been watching people in my own life, myself included, play this exhausting game of spiritual hide and seek. We show up on Sunday morning singing worship songs with raised hands, but Monday through Saturday? We're living like God's got selective vision.

Paul's words in Galatians aren't meant to scare us into submission. They're meant to wake us up to reality. You can't compartmentalize your faith like it's a weekend hobby. God sees the whole picture, not just your highlight reel.

I was talking to a friend last week who was complaining about feeling distant from God. But in the same conversation, she mentioned how she'd been cutting corners at work, gossiping about her neighbor, and justifying purchases she couldn't afford. She wanted to feel close to God while actively choosing behaviors that create distance.

Here's what hit me: we've gotten really good at convincing ourselves that our "small" compromises don't matter. That white lie to avoid conflict? That corner we cut when no one's watching? The way we treat our family when we're stressed? We think these don't count because they're not the "big" sins.

But God isn't grading on a curve. When we sow dishonesty, we reap broken trust. When we sow selfishness, we reap isolation. When we sow half-hearted obedience, we reap a half-hearted relationship with Him.

The good news? This principle works both ways. When we sow kindness, we reap deeper relationships. When we sow integrity, we reap peace of mind. When we sow genuine worship through our daily choices, we reap authentic intimacy with God.

Stop trying to outsmart God. He's not looking for your performance; He's looking for your honesty. Your whole life is your worship, not just the parts that look good on social media.

๐Ÿ™ A Prayer for Today

God, I confess I've been playing games with You. I've tried to manage my image while neglecting my heart. Help me live with integrity in every area of my life. Show me where I'm sowing seeds I don't want to harvest, and give me courage to change. I want my whole life to honor You, not just the parts others can see. Amen.
